MY DISLIKES:

MY BIO:
I've been a die hard Journey fan for over 20 years now. It all started with the Mtv Saturday night concerts. The first time I saw Journey on Mtv I was hooked. My first concert was Journey, I was just a teenager. My parents cringed at the thought of me going to a concert but knew how much it meant to me. I've seen many other bands in concert and nobody gets me going like seeing Journey play. My husband is also a huge Journey fan and so is my little boy.

FAVORITE ALL TIME CONCERT MEMORY:
Having the opportunity to meet Journey this past summer. We had front row seats for that show as well and the guys were just amazing! It will be a night I'll never forget. It was great to meet other fans that have the same love and passion for this band as I do.

Hmmmm...tough one! I have seen both in concert and have to say that Frontiers-era Perry is probably my fave. However, Augeri does an AWESOME job, in my opinion. But then again, the bottom line is that Augeri isn't Perry. So, I guess I'll have to go with Perry.

FAVORITE JOURNEY LEAD SINGER:
This is something that separates Journey fans down the middle, but Steve Augeri is my favorite Journey lead singer. Many people just don't listen to his voice. They are too quick to compare him to the other Steve.... Perry that is. Mr. Augeri's live voice is outstanding and he is a much better showman then Steve Perry. To quote Steve Perry, "Live is where Journey's Music lives," and that it does with Steve Augeri.

CONCERTS:
Journey at Mohegan Sun [Connecticut], 2002 was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Steve's voice was at another level that night and Neal was on another plane.

ARRIVAL AND RED 13:
Arrival is a great CD and I hope they do more songs from it this tour. Red 13 is Journey moving forward. I like it and live the songs are outstanding.

MY BIO:
I Have been a Journey fan since the 80's. I am a drummer and have been since the age of 11. I played professionally for many years. However some years ago I gave music up. This was mainly brought about by the music business and all the pitfalls within it. I have since started playing again. I count Steve Smith and Deen Castronovo as two of the best drummers in music today.

FAVORITE JOURNEY ALBUM:
There are songs on every album that I like. For some reason Trial by Fire is one of my fav's.

Associate Editor, Post of the Day (August, 2002-September, 2003)

FAVORITE JOURNEY ALBUM:

I'd say Captured, but I think that's almost cheating, so I'll go with Evolution--Overall, it has the greatest number of excellent (my opinion) songs. I really, really, really LOVE "Sweet and Simple."

I'm also very much into Trial by Fire...It's a perfect example of what happens when things just click between a group of exceptionally gifted musicians.

(All of the previously stated subject to change!)

FAVORITE JOURNEY LEAD SINGER:
Back then--Steve Perry, especially for studio recordings. Now--Steve Augeri, especially LIVE

WHAT I THINK OF ARRIVAL:

There's some really good music on there, but at times it seems a little too made for radio (I'll pick on "Nothing Comes Close" for an example). The musical "vibe" that's supposed to come naturally seems forced. Having said that, there are some songs I really enjoy on the album, like "Higher Place" (of course!), "Livin' to Do" and "World Gone Wild".

FAVORITE SONG FROM ARRIVAL:
"Livin' To Do"...absolutely incredible live!

LIST OF ATTENDED JOURNEY CONCERTS:

WHAT I'VE EATEN AT A JOURNEY CONCERT:
Nada.

WHAT I'VE DRANK AT A JOURNEY CONCERT:
Plenty of water and a few beers.

MY LIKES:
Music (especially LIVE), Journey music (Yes, it's different from ordinary music), cats, the great outdoors, ice cream, red leather--just kidding.

MY DISLIKES:
Work, inattentiveness, close-minded people, humidity, drugs (illegal kind).

MY MOTTO:
"Life's to short for wastin'...Wastin' precious time"

MY JOURNEY BIO:
In the car, I used to be one of those people who couldn't stop changing radio stations, because "something better might be on." Well, I found that "something better"...Journey is "it" for me.

I'm part of the younger generation of Journey fans, not really discovering the band until about the end of the year 2000. Although I knew a couple of Journey's radio hits (especially "Open Arms"), you couldn't really consider me a fan. I started to take notice when -believe it or not- a *younger* friend (he was 18 at the time) acquainted me with the Greatest Hits. Shortly after, VH1's Behind the Music featuring Journey came out, and that did me in; I was hooked. Much to my wallet's dismay, I had to go out and purchase every single Journey album I could get my hands on and get my butt to as many concerts as possible. There's nothing in this world that equals the feeling I get when seeing/hearing Journey in concert...If there is, I haven't found it yet. There's just something about the music that is just pure MAGIC. I consider myself really lucky because with Steve A. and Deen, the new direction (Red 13!!), it seems like I became a fan at the right time!

OTHER BANDS I LIKE:
Counting Crows, Bad Company, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Foreigner, and plenty of others that I can't think of right now.

Favorite Journey Album:
Tie between Infinity and Arrival. I've heard Anytime after Feeling That Way so many times until it seems like one song to me rather than two, however, Arrival was my introduction to Steve Augeri.

Favorite Journey Lead Singer:
Steve Perry will always be a part of Journey history to me but I will have to say Steve Augeri

What I think of Arrival:
Love it!

Favorite Song on Arrival:
Kiss me Softly and Loved By You and since I'm a huge Jack Blades fan, I love Higher Place because Jack co-wrote it.

List of Attended Journey Concerts:
  • 1985 in St. Louis, MO at the former St. Louis Checkerdome (it's since been torn down) from the 5th row (the closest I've ever been to Steve Perry).
  • July 1999 St. Louis, Riverport Amphitheatre
  • July 2002 - Toledo, Oh (downtown on the waterfront)
  • June 20, 2003 - Classic Rock's Main Event - Savvis Center, St. Louis, MO
  • July 18, 2003 - Loopfest, Chicago, IL

    What I've eaten/drank at a Journey concert:
Of course I can't remember what I had in 1985 except that it was right after graduating high school so probably lots of alcohol, lol, but I remember having a beer at the St. Louis show (both of them) and because the show in Toledo was so hot, I do remember having a frozen lemonade. I'm sure at loopfest it was just water.

    My Likes:
  • Reading
  • Music - more specifically Journey, Styx, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Theory of a Deadman
  • Web Design (I love the creativity of it)
  • Writing

    My motto:
Wherever you go, there you are!

    Movies:
I loved the Harry Potter and Lord of the Ring movies.

    Authors:
  • Laurall K. Hamilton (local St. Louis author)
  • James Patterson
  • Jackie Collins
  • Barbara Delinsky
  • Sandra Brown
  • For Horror, Edward Lee, Bentley Little and Richard Laymon

    My Journey Bio:
I've been a Journey fan since the early 80's. Back then we were going to everything that came into St. Louis and the best seats that we ever had at that time was for Journey and those were 5th row. I was really a huge Steve Perry fan. I can remember specifically at that concert, looking up and thinking "OMG, there's Steve Perry!". Because of that, I found it hard to imagine Steve Augeri doing as good of a job as I had heard so after Steve Perry left, I stopped going. Then a friend offered me 5th row tickets to see Journey at Riverport Amphitheatre (now UMB Bank Pavilion) in St. Louis in 1999. I thought with such good seats why not. Steve Augeri totally won me over. The biggest thing that I love about him, apart from his talent, is that he's so humble and he so loves doing what he's doing and he's so obviously appreciative of it. I get the impression that he had given up on being in the music business so when it finally did happen, he was just so happy until I think he's still thanking people. Now I'm very involved in the Journey online communities but most specifically the Steve A communities.

    WHAT I THINK OF ARRIVAL:
Not my favorite but it grew on me after a while.

    MY JOURNEY BIO:
I was starting to like the band back in high school in about 1981 and the local radio station was giving away front row seats to their concert . I had to be in school so I asked my mom to try to win them for me...SHE DID! I consider that night, standing on the chair right in front of the guys, singing harmonies along with Ross Valory, the day I was "saved" by Journey. Up to that point I liked (gulp) Disco! Thanks Journey...not just a band, a religious experience.

    Steve Augeri.

    WHAT I THINK OF ARRIVAL:
Arrival, in my opinion, sets the standard for AOR/Melodic Rock records.  Kevin Shirley’s production is not as good as on TBF, but still, this album is simply the best!

WHICH ONE OF THE BREAKFAST CLUB CHARACTERS ARE YOU MOST LIKE:
Definitely John Bender (Judd Nelson), with a little Allison (Ally Sheedy) thrown in for good measure

IF I WERE PRESIDENT, THE FIRST THING I WOULD DO IS:
Regulate movie prices, direct all movie theaters and concert venues to stop discriminating against outside food or drink, prohibit employers from discriminating against men with long hair and beards, give the military a raise, ban all future J-Lo albums, and consolidate all Federal law enforcement a gencies into one (have you actually counted how many there are?)! Now all I need are some corrupt special interest groups to fund me.

I’m 40-something and happily married to a great guy. I work full time. We live in a tiny community of 2500 people, very rural and I love it. I love the warm summer months and spending time outside. I love pretty much all types of music but rock is my favorite. The stereo is on more often in our house than the TV. Music relaxes me and helps me think. I’ve loved Journey since 1978 but have gotten much more involved with them since I started frequenting their website! I’m also a big NASCAR fan (Go Kyle Petty!) and also enjoy NFL football. I call myself a computer geek.

I have a very strong musical influence from my older brother and my father who attened several Journey concerts in their time. I am a guitar player and Neal Schon is by far my favorite guitarist so it fuels my love for Journey even more. As far as my future, I plan on going to college and graduating in Computer Science/Computer Programming. I would love to see my band get better and go somewhere with that but it's very risky with the music business now days so who knows. As for next summer, I am going to apply with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and try to be a roadie for Journey!

I'm a midwestern girl who has had the good fortune to live all over the world due to my husband's profession. I am a columnist for the international Keeshond magazine JabberwocKEES and we have shown purebred dogs for over 15 years now. I am fortunate to have gone from professional dog grooming to working at a major pet industry company in the purchasing and accounts department. Music has always been a huge part of my life and I was fortunate to live near Omaha in my teen years and see some of the best acts coming out of the late 70's and early 80's. I have always been obsessed with AOR radio and rock. I enjoy sharing music with my four children and in fact my two oldest kids are huge Journey fans as well and have gone to many concerts with me this summer. It's great to be able to share things with my kids. I think that my children are my greatest accomplishment. God has blessed me with four beautiful children.

*** I think there are a couple more from 2000-2002. Need to look at those stubs. Basically I've seen any tour they've done sone 1998 as long as they came to the Boston area. This will be the first summer I won't be able to see them due to my wedding unless they choose to come back to the east coast mid to late August. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    MEMBERS I'VE MET:
Only Steve Smith w/ Vital Information. First time I met him was kind of a trip. Being a graduate from the same high school as him, I was able to find his home address in a high school alumni book. I wrote a letter to him and sent it in the mail. About a week later, he called looking for me at my house, but I of course was not home. He left a message for me saying that he was going to be performing at Ryles jazz Club in Cambridge, MASS and for me to introduce myself to him. So I did and basically got him to sign a few things and also get my picture with him. I'll always remember that.
